Child First — Trauma-Informed Home Visiting for Young Children and Families
The Power of U, Inc. is an official Child First affiliate, delivering the national, evidence-based Child First home visiting model to families in Eastern North Carolina. Child First pairs a clinician and care coordinator to work directly in the home with parents and young children (prenatal through age 6), addressing trauma, toxic stress, and early childhood mental health before they become lifelong barriers.

What Child First Addresses
- Early childhood trauma and toxic stress
- Parent-child relationship strain
- Developmental and behavioral concerns in children ages 0–6
- Family stability during crisis (housing, domestic violence, substance use in the household, parental mental health)
How Referrals Work
Referrals come from pediatricians, DSS, Smart Start, NC Infant-Toddler Program (NC ITP), Head Start, courts, and family members. To refer a family or ask whether Child First is a fit, email referrals@upliftnc.org.
